Where Should I Hire a Swim Coach?
October 7, 2026 at 4:02 PM CDT · 2 min read
The best coach is not always the person with the longest résumé. Look for someone who teaches well, communicates clearly, shows up prepared and fits your culture.

Start with your own circle
Former swimmers, college athletes, assistant coaches, Masters swimmers and trusted referrals are often strong candidates.
Write a clear job post
Share the age group, schedule, pay range, certifications, growth opportunities and what success looks like in the role.
Follow a consistent process
Check references, verify required certifications, run appropriate background checks and watch finalists coach if possible.
Use SwimConnect
SwimConnect, our swimmer alumni directory, helps clubs find former and current college swimmers who already understand the sport and may be interested in coaching.
Good hiring is not just filling a spot. It is building the adults who shape your swimmers' experience every day.
